Grab hot drip coffee and a pastry at The Gathering Place, strap on snowshoes for a brisk loop along the Big Rapids Riverwalk, thaw out with an afternoon Schu-Burger at Schuberg's Bar, and catch a night game of Ferris State hockey at Ewigleben Arena.

Make it a weekend

Settle in at the Country Inn, spending Saturday morning fat biking the groomed snowpack of the White Pine Trail. Head into Mecosta County backcountry for cedar swamp vistas, dress up for braised short ribs at The Blue Cow, and close out the tavern night with a dark stout at The Sawmill Saloon.
