Southeast Michigan — Washtenaw County · Town edition

Dexter

A handsome river town with small theaters, good coffee, and enough winter trails to justify another pastry.

Overheard in Dexter
The Huron River is central to Dexter's landscape and outdoor life.
Why winter

Dexter keeps its best attractions close together: old Main Street buildings, a real theater, coffee shops, and several lively places to eat. Hudson Mills Metropark gives winter visitors access to wooded trails and cross-country skiing when snow allows. December brings illuminated trees to Monument Park.

A winter tall tale · as told in Dexter

The Town That Turned an Evening into Theater

Dexter is small enough for a short walk to connect dinner, coffee, and a live performance. The Encore Theatre occupies its own downtown place in that circuit, bringing musicals and tribute concerts to an audience well beyond town limits. Its nearby historic inn even promotes theater-related stays. For a town this size, that is quite a lot of curtain calls.
