Mount Clemens

Bath City's old downtown now specializes in small stages, warm suppers and bowling at a feather.

Why winter

Macomb Place offers a short circuit of food, art and drinks, with an indoor rink nearby. Anton's holiday market and the Santa Parade put the historic downtown to work before deep winter settles in.

Home idea: build a dark roux, add onion, celery and pepper, then stock and your preferred cooked protein. Simmer gently and serve with rice; season to taste rather than treating heat as an endurance exam.

A winter tall tale · as told in Mount Clemens

People once travelled here for a bath

Mount Clemens became famous for its mineral baths. The 1869 Crocker House now interprets life during that resort era, including the lives of the household's domestic servants. Its period rooms put a whole city holiday industry into domestic scale. Before spa menus became lengthy reading assignments, Bath City had already found its subject.

Tall tales grow in the telling. Take this one with road salt.

Good to know: Live-checked October 26, 2026. Two verified hotels are listed in nearby Chesterfield; no third local overnight was confirmed. The DDA's Santa Parade text still mentions November 22, while the organizer and county publish November 21, 2026. Octopus' Beer Garden is omitted because winter operation was not established. Bakery listings are pastry stops; beverage availability was not independently confirmed at Clementine's.
