The town built on turkey feathers

In the 1880s a Three Oaks merchant, Edward K. Warren, saw piles of discarded turkey feathers at a Chicago supplier and had an idea. He turned the quills into Featherbone, a flexible corset stay that replaced whalebone, and built a factory that carried the village's economy. The old works now house Journeyman Distillery. Few towns owe this much to a man looking at feathers and thinking about underwear.
