Mount Pleasant

A surprisingly energetic winter outpost where collegiate basketball energy meets a major casino resort.

Overheard in Mount Pleasant
A true hybrid town where Central Michigan University's academic energy meets the Soaring Eagle casino resort crowd.
Why winter

Mount Pleasant strikes a fun balance between indoor escapes and outdoor trails. You can spend a quiet morning snowshoeing the frozen Chippewa River, an afternoon screaming at a mid-major basketball game, and the evening playing blackjack at a sprawling resort—all within a ten-minute drive.

No plans? Good. Try these.

A winter tall tale · as told in Mount Pleasant

The Ghost of Warriner Hall

Central Michigan University's oldest and most iconic building, Warriner Hall, is the subject of a decades-old campus legend. Students and late-night faculty claim the upper floors are haunted by the spirit of a former student who died tragically on campus. Reports frequently cite unexplained cold drafts, flickering lights in empty corridors, and footsteps pacing the administration halls long after the building is locked.

Tall tales grow in the telling. Take this one with road salt.
